Manville Public Library will sponsor a month of new programs in February.
Acoustic guitarists of all ages are invited to the library on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. for an informal jam session in the conference room.
Bring your guitar and join the library director Ed Smith in sharing favorite songs. All levels of players and styles of music are welcome. Light refreshments will be served. Some sheet music will be available.
The library will initiate its first monthly Grandparents University program on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 1-2 p.m. in the conference room. This multigenerational free event pairs grandparents, parents or an adult caregiver with a child to tackle a fun-filled science experiment to highlight math, science and technology in an engaging, child-friendly way. Children must be at least seven years old to participate.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the Manville Public Library is hosting a Valentine craft program. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to make a special gift to give to their Valentine on Monday, Feb. 11, from 3:304:15 p.m. in the conference room.
February is National Heart Health Month, and what better time to learn about ways you may decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke in individuals, young and old?
In a 45-minute workshop Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 2:30 p.m. in the conference room, Health Educator Cynthia Kusorgbor will discuss how people can take an active role in their own health and decrease illness and disabilities associated with chronic disease.
Somerset County Library System’s own Gretchen Pierce will talk about local thrift stores, shopping strategies, creating outfits for less, online resources, and more on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the conference room. Wear your favorite “thrifted” outfit and your name goes into a drawing.
