LAMBERTVILLE: Majoras’ death, result of ‘tragic accident’

Prosecutor: ”The official cause and manner of death from the medical examiner are pending toxicology results”

FLEMINGTON — There has been a positive identification of Sarah Majoras, 39, of Lambertville by the Hunterdon County medical examiner.
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III and Lambertville Police Director Bruce Cocuzza issued the update at 2:41 p.m. today.
”Preliminary results from the medical examiner do not indicate anything suspicious. At this time, all indications are that Sarah’s death was a tragic accident.
”Our case remains active so that we can provide Sarah’s family and friends with factual information and answers to help them cope with their loss.
”At this point in the investigation, there is no indication of foul play. All of Sarah’s personal property, including cash, identification, wallet, keys, and flashlight were in her possession.
”The official cause and manner of death from the medical examiner are pending toxicology results,” Prosecutor Kearns said.
Ms. Majoras went missing after leaving John and Peter’s Bar in New Hope, Pennsylvania on Jan. 26 at approximately 2 a.m. She crossed the free bridge into Lambertville and was last seen on surveillance video in the area of Lambert Lane.
On Wednesday at 4:50 p.m., divers under the direction of the New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit, located Ms. Majoras’ body in the canal near the lock, south of Bridge Street.
Prosecutor Kearns added, “Our hearts go out to the Majoras family and the many friends of Sarah in Lambertville and New Hope during this time of grief.
”I also wish to thank the army of volunteer citizens and friends of Sarah that mobilized to assist in the ground search of the area. They were very organized and helpful. I commend this dedicated group for their teamwork and perseverance,” said the prosecutor.
