POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Feb. 1

East Windsor
   Hunan Wok was the place of a reported theft between Dec. 1 and Jan. 14, according to police. A complainant reported that during that time period approximately $300 to 400 worth of used cooking oil was stolen from behind Hunan Wok. During the theft the suspect also damaged the storage container valued at $500.
   An East Windsor Township owned building was burglarized between 3 p.m. Jan. 17 and 10:35 a.m. Jan. 18, police said. An unknown suspect entered the building on Milford Road and removed a space heater valued at approximately $50. During the commission of the burglary, the basement door was damaged. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $25. The incident is under investigation.
   Police said a complainant reported that his work van was parked on Abbington Drive and it was forcibly entered by prying the rear door between 6:15 p.m. Jan. 18 and 7:33 a.m. Jan. 19. Taken during the theft were two Milwaukee drills, a Dewalt Impact gun, hammer, level and tool bag. The complainant indicated the tools had an estimated value of $650. Police said the incident is under investigation.
   Between 6 p.m. Jan. 18 and 8:43 Jan. 20, a complainant reported that his work van was parked on Kellington Drive and was forcibly entered by breaking the door lock. A 100-foot drain snake, a 75-foot drain snake, pipe cutter, an electric pipe cutter and a bucket containing numerous hand tools had been stolen. The complainant indicated the tools had an estimated value of $5,600, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
   Abdul Jalloh, 27, of East Windsor, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance on Route 130 just before 1 a.m. Jan. 20. Police said an officer observed a 2006 BMW speeding on Route 130 North. The vehicle was stopped and the officer observed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the investigation the passenger, Mr. Jalloh, was found to be in possession of marijuana. The passenger also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Fort Lee Boro. Mr. Jalloh posted $1,000 bail for the warrant. He was then released pending court action.
   Police said TG Piece, 26, of Newark, was charged with criminal mischief and harassment on One Mile Road at 9:49 p.m. Jan. 20. Officers responded to One Mile Road for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival officers learned that Mr. Piece had broken the windows of a victim’s car after a verbal dispute. Mr. Piece was pulled over by patrol officers and subsequently charged with harassment. Bail was set at $5,000 cash and he was transferred to the Mercer County Corrections Center in lieu of bail pending court action.
   The complainant reported that his work van was parked on Livingston Drive and forcibly entered by forcing the locks between 7:20 p.m. Jan. 10 and 9 a.m. Jan. 20 on Livingston Drive. The suspects stole three roofing guns with an estimated value of $945, police said. The incident is under investigation.
   Andrew Gottfried, 19, of East Windsor was charged with possession of heroin and driving while intoxicated on Charred Oak Lane at 6:10 p.m. Jan. 21, police said.
   Officers responded to the area of Charred Oak Lane on a report of an unconscious man in the driver seat of a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle a 2002 Hyundai on Charred Oak Lane with the driver unresponsive. During the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of heroin and a hypodermic syringe, police said. The driver was given field sobriety tests and charged with DWI.
   Mr. Gottfried was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, reckless driving, careless driving and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
   Police said a complainant reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle between noon and 6 p.m. Jan. 21 while it was parked at the Town Center Plaza. An unknown suspect removed the car stereo with an estimated value of $150. The incident is under investigation.
   Police said a burglary occurred between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 and 7:56 a.m. Jan. 23 at Farrington Place. A complainant reported that his work van was parked on Farrington Drive when it was forcibly entered and tools, worth approximately $200, were stolen. The incident is under investigation.
   Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifting in progress 1:04 p.m. Jan. 22. Police said store personnel reported observing the suspect, Josean Hernandez, 33, of Trenton, leaving the store without paying for merchandise worth $477.
   Police said he was found to be in possession of a glass crack pipe as well as stolen merchandise. Bail was set at $10,000 full and Mr. Hernandez was also found to have several outstanding arrest warrants. Charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia, he was later committed to the Mercer County Detention Center in default of bail.
   On Route 33 at 12:43 a.m. Jan. 25 police said Richard Algeo, 52, of Millstone, was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to police. An officer observed a 2009 Nissan traveling on Rt. 33 eastbound in an erratic manner.
   As the vehicle was being observed, it accelerated to 78-mph in a 50-mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and police said. Mr. Algeo was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, watery eyes. He was given field sobriety tests. In addition to the DWI charge, Mr. Algeo was charged with reckless driving, careless driving and speeding. He was later released pending court action.
   At 10:47 p.m. Jan. 24 an officer observed a 2001 Honda traveling on Hickory Corner Road with a non-functioning headlight. Kaitlyn Newman, 20, of Plainsboro, was stopped while driving the vehicle into the Wawa parking lot. Police said the officer smelled the odor of marijuana and investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a bag of marijuana. She was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, maintenance of lamps and drugs in a motor vehicle. She was released pending court action.
   A complainant reported that her vehicle was parked in the parking lot of Princeton Arms North 2 when the vehicle was entered by smashing a window between 9 p.m. Jan. 27 and 3:59 p.m. Jan. 28. She reported that her purse was left in the vehicle and stolen, along with personal papers and a credit card, police said. The incident is under investigation.
   The officer observed a 1999 Volvo stopped on the crest of a hill on the lawn of Brewster’s Pub. The vehicle was running and several individuals were attempting to push it off the hill, where it had become stuck at 2:29 a.m. Jan. 26. Police said that the driver, Thomas Hawkins, 35, of Wynbrook West Apartments, was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and had difficulty keeping his balance. He was given field sobriety tests. Mr. Hawkins was then charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and reckless driving. He was later released pending court action.
   Paola Burbano, 19, of Carteret, was charged with shoplifting after officers responded to the ShopRite store for a report of a shoplifter in custody 7:42 p.m. Jan. 26. Store personnel advised that the Mr. Burbano had been observed concealing cosmetics in her jacket and attempting to leave the store, police said. He was later released pending court action.
   Police said a complainant reported that her 2008 Ford was parked unsecured in the parking lot of Princeton Arms South 1 when it was entered and a GPS unit, worth approximately $83, was stolen between 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and 9 a.m. Jan. 28.
   Between 9 p.m. Jan. 27 and 6 a.m. Jan. 28 a complainant reported that her 2007 Chevrolet was parked unsecured in the parking lot of Princeton Arms North 2 when it was entered and a GPS unit was stolen. It was worth approximately $150, according to police.
   A complainant reported that his work trailer was parked on Probasco Road when it was forcibly entered and landscaping tools, worth approximately $1,200, were stolen between 4 p.m. Jan. 25 and 2:47 p.m. Jan. 29, police said. The incident is under investigation.
Hightstown
   At 7:47 p.m. Jan. 21 on Mercer Street, officers charged Michael Keefe, 45, of Hamilton, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, driving while suspended, and reckless driving, police said. A license plate inquiry revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. Upon stopping Mr. Keefe’s vehicle and identifying him as the registered owner, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Mr. Keefe was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was then taken into custody. Mr. Keefe submitted breath samples and was later released with pending court action.
   At 1:05 a.m. Jan. 27 on South Street, officers charged Alexander Martinez, 18, of Westerlea Arms, with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and underage possession of an alcoholic beverage, police said. While on patrol officers observed an unknown man walking in the middle of the roadway on South Street carrying an open container of alcohol. He was stopped and identified, and was found to be intoxicated.
   Police said Mr. Martinez became belligerent and was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and underage possession of alcohol.
   During the arrest, the 18-year-old Hightstown man began to fight with officers and attempted to pull away to thwart being arrested, police said. He was taken into custody and was found to possession a pipe with marijuana in it. Mr. Martinez was transported to headquarters where he was later released to his parents with pending court action.
