‘We had the initial meeting of the Budget Advisory Committee, and we are certainly thankful for the folks who came out on Jan. 15. We didn’t have all the information complied at that time.’
– Mayor Richard LoCascio, Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD — Mayor Richard LoCascio has scheduled the first 2013 budget meeting for the Township Committee this year.
It is slated to take place 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at 300 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road and will come two days before the next Township Committee meeting, scheduled for Feb. 14.
”We had the initial meeting of the Budget Advisory Committee, and we are certainly thankful for the folks who came out on Jan. 15,” said Mayor LoCascio at the Chesterfield Township Committee meeting Jan. 24. “We didn’t have all the information complied at that time. We didn’t want it to drag out too long before we met with the folks. (The Budget Advisory Committee is) going to meet again on Feb. 5.”
Mayor LoCascio said, “This is a well-rounded group that includes people who have backgrounds in public sectors and private sectors, and it was nice to receive some input in a positive form.”
The mayor is asking the advisory committee to give the township a bullet-format list of the recommendations its members come up with so it is easier for review.
The Chesterfield Township Committee also discussed the pre-planning phase of Community Day. Deputy Mayor Jeremy Liedtka suggested there should be a committee for this project so it can start coming up with a budget.
Committeeman Michael Hlubik agreed with Deputy Mayor Liedtka.
Mr. Hlubik said, “Let’s put something out and see if there is enough interest to make it go.”
Township Engineer Joe Hirsh did give the committee a quick update on the Reforest Station.
”As of Jan. 24, they were held up due to the cold temperatures. We did get approval to submit for reimbursement of about $206,000,” Mr. Hirsh said.
Committeeman Michael Hlubik asked Mr. Hirsh about placing more trees on private property near the New Jersey Turnpike.
Mr. Hirsh said there are trees being placed by Ward Avenue.
