FLORENCE AND ROEBLING NEWS: Week of Jan. 31

   The Florence Township Council will convene 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Municipal Complex, 711 Broad St.
   The Florence Township Fire Co. No. 1 will be holding a hoagie and meatball sale on Friday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. till sellout and Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. till sell out. T
   The hoagies available will be American, Italian, and tuna. The price for either hoagie or meatball sandwich is $7 which includes a bag of chips and a beverage.
   Advance orders are welcome and can be ordered by calling 609-499-6016 or via fax, 609-499-6059.
   Delivery is available locally.
   The sale will be held at the firehouse, 401 Firehouse Lane, Florence Township.
   On Feb. 13 there will be a general meeting of the MOMS Club, open to residents of Roebling, Florence, Bordentown, Fieldsboro, Columbus and Mansfield.
   Light refreshments are served and children are always welcome.

   The Riverfront School PTO’s annual Basket Bonanza (Tricky Tray) is set for Saturday, March 2. Folks are invited to come out and enjoy a night of fun, fundraising and prizes including baskets featuring more than 15 themes and gift certificates.
   Admission tickets must be purchased in advance. They will be sold Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Riverfront School cafeteria, Cedar Street entrance, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
   Tickets are $10 each which includes a sheet of 25 raffle tickets. Additional discounted ticket packages will also be available.
   Grand prizes include “Beats” by Dr. Dre, iPad mini, Great Wolf Lodge getaway package, and a flat screen TV, among other top prizes.

   Roebling Museum will open for the season on April 3. Registration is not required. The museum is located in Florence Township.There will also be a spring fundraiser held April 13.On May 4, join local historians for trolley rides through the historic village of Roebling in Florence.In June, the museum is also hosting an exhibit opening of Steadfast Under Fire: Washington A. Roebling, Civil War Engineer. The opening is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 and June 23.The event will feature a living history encampment of Civil War re-enactors on the museum’s lawn. Registration is not required.This exhibit explores the role of Washington A. The Food Pantry at Florence United Methodist Church at Second and Broad streets in Florence is open Fridays from 11 a.m.The pantry is always looking for food donations. Call 609-499-3807 to learn more.There also is a food pantry at Holy Assumption Church in Roebling across from the Roebling Town Market.
   Bus trip to Lancaster Sight & Sound Theatre to see “Noah” sponsored by Sts. Francis & Clare Altar & Rosary Society, April 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $100 per person which includes show admittance, bus, Kitchen Kettle, village shopping and dinner at Shady Maple in the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Money for the trip is due by March 3; no deposits will be taken.
