Have you ever heard of guitar legends Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, and Tommy Emmanuel? If you have, then you will be WOWED by Matt Wong. Wong, 15 years old is a fingerstyle guitarist from West Windsor, NJ. Wong is currently touring throughout the Tri-State area and Pennsylvania to promote his debut album, "Fly me to the Moon" to new audiences. However, he will be bringing his high energy show back home to the Herb Eckert Auditorium in South Brunswick, NJ on March 1, 2013 for a special local concert for his friends and neighbors.
Matt picked up the guitar at age six and has been playing ever since. He currently focuses on playing what he calls, "fingerstyle," which allows him to hold down the melody, rhythm, and bass parts simultaneously, while adding a little percussion. Wong was first inspired to play this style when he heard legendary guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel playing using this method via YouTube. Emmanuel has had a large impact on Matt’s musical journey. Using fingerstyle, Matt has composed several originals and has also arranged a number of well known songs. His originals are Jazz based, but also include elements of Blues, Rock, Country, and Classical music.
