The New Jersey Apartment Association recently swore in Michael J. Beirne, executive vice president of The Kamson Corporation, as one of the NJAA board members at the annual membership meeting, which took place at the Imperia on Easton in Franklin Township.

Beirne has been a member of the NJAA since 1997 and has served as legislative chair. He is also the Region 2 vice president of the National Apartment Association of which the NJAA is a member affiliate.

“I am honored to serve as a board member of this prestigious organization,” Beirne said. “As a member of NJAA, I learned a lot about the organization’s advocacy efforts and look forward to continuing to work on initiatives to pass legislation that will benefit our members and residents.”

Beirne has lived in Manalapan for 21 years with his wife, Shari, and their daughters, Marisa and Meredith.

The NJAA, which consists of the larger, professional owners, managers, builders and developers of private capital and market rate units as well as subsidized and affordable multifamily rental housing, is dedicated to providing safe, clean and affordable rental housing to more than 1 million families throughout the state.

The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Group will hold its sixth annual “Caring with Karaoke” fundraiser 7-10 p.m. Feb. 13 at Park 33, 618 Park Ave., Freehold. All proceeds from the event will go to Breast Intentions, a local nonprofit that provides crisis intervention for women who are facing financial hardship as they battle breast cancer. Park 33 will provide passed hors d’oeuvres as well as a dinner buffet station set-up. There will be a cash bar with drink specials. In response to many area seniors whose homes sustained damage or were lost to Hurricane Sandy, Applewood Estates, Freehold Township, is offering an immediate residency program for qualified independent seniors age 62 and older. The LifeCare Preview program allows new residents to move into select apartments while they deal with their home sale, repairs or insurance claims. Seniors can live at Applewood Estates for up to 13 months, during which time they can decide to become permanent residents or make other arrangements. The Goddard School of South Old Bridge, 1480 Englishtown Road, Old Bridge, will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 to celebrate Goddard’s 25th anniversary of learning through play. Guests will have the opportunity to create a birthday card for Ronald McDonald House Charities. For every card created, $1 will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
