CHAPTER A
The next Chapter A meeting is today, Thursday, Feb. 7, and all Hillsborough seniors are invited. Our meetings start at 12:30 p.m. with doors open at 11:30 a.m., allowing time to review upcoming events. Refreshments are served after the meeting.
Members may at any time contribute kitchen supplies — coffee, decaf, napkins, plastic sandwich bags, etc. Dues at $5 a year are payable by the end of March. Executive Board meetings are the fourth Wednesday of every month unless otherwise noted.
Our new president is Lou Possemato, 908-369-4474. He is encouraging members to use the Suggestion Box (near the bulletin board we’re all now using) in regard to trips, activities and other ideas.
Our speaker for the March meeting will be School Superintendent Jorden Schiff.
Upcoming events:
Tues., Feb. 12 — “Butterflies are Free” at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse near Clinton. Departure from Kohl’s parking lot at 10:15 a.m. Cost is $60.
Thurs., Feb. 21 — Hillsborough Senior Bingo, hosted by Chapter B, at 11:30 a.m. at the Municipal Building. Hot dog lunch is $3. Ticket is required. An additional two cards may be played for a total cost of $5.
Thurs., March 14 — “St. Patrick’s Day Celebration” at Doolan’s in Spring Lake. Departure from Kohl’s parking lot at 10 a.m. Cost is $82.
Wed., April 10 — Appreciation lunch at the Municipal Building at 11:30 a.m. Bingo follows from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $12, refunded at event.
Wed., April 24 — Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Tribute at Penn’s Peak, Pa. Family-style lunch served. Departure from Kohl’s parking lot at 9 a.m. Cost is $85.

Tuesday: Games from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Canasta from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mah jongg from noon-4 p.m.

CHAPTER B
Our next regular meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, in the all-purpose room in the municipal building. All meetings begin at 12:30 p.m., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Sixteen new members will be welcomed.
One of our members, Ken Wetzel, will be honored by Mayor Frank DelCore and the Township Committee at the Feb. 12 meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the courtroom. Ken is stepping down as a fire commissioner after many years of service to Hillsborough. Come out to honor Ken as he receives a well-deserved proclamation from the township governing body.
Registration for trips begins at 11 a.m. before all meetings. A three-day trip to Washington, D.C., is planned in April. For those who have reserved a spot, your balance of $139 is due. Insurance of $35 is optional.
The next bingo is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21. The fee is $3, which includes a hot dog lunch and one board, or $5 for lunch and two boards. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and bingo begins at 12:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
Tickets to our March 13 trip to LiGreci’s Staaten, located on Staten Island, N.Y., for a St. Patrick’s fest are on sale for $73 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A June 10-14 trip to Rocking Horse Ranch in New York State is planned. The five-day trip includes transportation, three daily meals, and day and evening activities, all for a cost of $536. Partial payments are due in February, March and April. More details to follow.
Our spring luncheon will be held Thursday, April 11. Tickets must be purchased no later than the March meeting.
Keep in mind the township’s Mr. Fix-It program, run by the Social Services Department. Minor home repairs can be arranged on Wednesday mornings between 8 and 11 for Hillsborough seniors 60 and older. Call 369-3880 for details.
Free senior exercise programs are available for all Hillsborough Seniors designed for all levels of fitness.
In the municipal building’s all-purpose room (where clubs A and B meet) there are sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m., and 12:30 and 2 p.m. Stretching and low-impact dancing is included, led by Diana Reinhardt.
At the Hillsborough Senior Wellness Center, 339 South Branch Road (near the YMCA) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, seniors can “Flex, Stretch, and Tone with Rose” at 11 a.m.

Blood pressure screening is held the third Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m.Caram (East Indian game similar to billiards) and other games are played every Thursday. Cards can be played every day. Attendees are invited to flex, stretch and tone with Rose on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
