MANVILLE: Senior center program to recall best romantic movies

   Travel back in time to remember classic Hollywood romances in a program at the Manville Senior Citizen Center in Fire Company No. 1 at 20 South Third Ave.
   Walter Choroszewski will look back at the Golden Age of cinema and review some of the best romantic movies and stories about on-screen celebrity couples and their off-screen love lives.
   A suggested lunch donation of $1.50 is recommended for individuals age 60 and older. The cost of lunch for those younger than age 60 is $5.35. Call 908-369-8700 before 10:30 a.m. the day before to make a lunch reservation.
   Transportation is available for those who do not drive.

   Thurs., Feb. 7 — Valentine’s wreath craft making with Jessica.
   Fri., Feb. 8 — Discussion on Chinese New Year and Chinese customs, 11-11:30 a.m.
   Mon., Feb. 11 — Classic Hollywood romances, on screen and off, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Walter Choroszewski will review the best romantic movies and share stories about celebrity couples and their off-screen love lives. He’ll also showcase Hollywood’s longest-lasting marriages and contrast them with some of the shortest and most unusual romances.
   Tues., Feb. 12 — Memory game, 11-11:45 a.m. on “Fat Tuesday.”
   Wed., Feb. 13 — Classic Hollywood romances party with entertainment by Gary Morton, 10:45 a.m.
   Thur., Feb. 14 — Left, right, center dice game
   Fri., Feb. 15 — Mandala art: Watercolor painting.
   Mon., Feb. 18 — Center closed for holiday.
   Tues., Feb. 19 — Wii bowling.
   Wed., Feb. 20 — “Basket Weaving 101” is a lunch-and-learn opportunity with Lois Macknik, noon-2:30 p.m. Create a round reed basket using basic to special weave patterns and color reeds. The $5 program fee is for anyone 60 and older and includes the cost of lunch and supplies. Reservations are required. The program has a 15-person maximum.

   Fri., Feb. 22 — UNO card game.
   Mon., Feb. 25 — “All About Dreams” by social worker Audrey Oxenhorn.
   Tues., Feb. 26 — “Everything You Need to Know About Recycling” by Melissa Harvey, Somerset County Waste Management Center.
   Wed., Feb. 27 — “Leave It to (the) Beaver: Why is the Species a Vital Part of the Ecosystem” by the Somerset County Parks Commission.
