Gregg A. Melvin, 40, of Ewing, was charged with driving under the influence, obstructing the passage of other vehicles and reckless driving after a police officer discovered his car was stopped in the right lane on I-95 South and he was asleep behind the wheel at 2:15 a.m. Feb. 3.
Cars belonging to two Johnson Avenue residents were entered and cash and clothing were stolen while the cars were parked outside their owners’ homes at 7 a.m. Feb. 3.
One of the victims saw a man on a bicycle enter her car and remove a wallet and a winter vest, who fled when he realized that his actions had been observed. The items were recovered from a nearby recycling can and a barbeque grill.
Vicente A. Osorio, 18, of Princeton, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia outside the Crystal Diner on Brunswick Pike at 3:18 a.m. Feb. 3. He allegedly had a baggie with marijuana and some rolling papers in his possession.
Construction tools worth $5,500 were reported stolen from a demolition site on Eggerts Crossing Road between 3 p.m. Jan. 31 and 6 p.m. Feb. 2.
Two bottles of liquor worth $80 and an Xbox and a Playstation and a projector, worth a combined $1,250, were reported stolen from a Drift Avenue residence between 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1. The burglar pried open the front door to gain entry.
A 91-year-old Burning Tree Lane resident was bilked out of $1,700 in cash at 11 a.m. Jan. 30 after a caller pretending to be his grandson called and asked for the money to be wired, because he was in Mexico and had been stopped by the police and wanted to move up the court date.
Another caller contacted the victim a short time later and said the “grandson,” who had been ordered to perform 45 days of community service, needed $1,500 more in lieu of community service. The victim went to the bank to withdraw money, but the bank was closed. He contacted his daughter, who told him to report it to the police.
William G. Adams, 27, of Trenton, was charged with disorderly conduct, attempting to cause injury and threatening violence after he allegedly pushed a 4-year-old boy and threatened him as the child was walking up the steps to the Lawrence Library on Darrah Lane at 8:33 p.m. Jan. 30.
A 17-year-old Trenton boy was charged with shoplifting jewelry worth $178 from Lord & Taylor at 11:16 a.m. Jan. 29.
Sean M. Rodriguez, 18, of Bensalem, Pa., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was discovered to have a glass pipe in his possession when he was stopped for a motor vehicle stop on Strawberry Street at 1:38 a.m. Jan. 29.
