Adesa Auto Auction said at 11:37 a.m. Jan. 28 that there was a stolen vehicle on its North Main Street property. Patrolman Nickolas Franzoso confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen in New York City, but it was actually repossessed.
Adesa reported another vehicle as stolen on its North Main Street property at 2 p.m. Jan. 29. Patrolman Ryan Steier confirmed the vehicle was repossessed. Maplewood police were notified.
At 2:15 the same day Adesa said it had another stolen vehicle found to be repossessed out of New York City.
Adesa reported at 12:37 p.m. Friday having a repossessed vehicle that was reported stolen in Orange, whose police were notified and said they’d contact the owner.
A North 8th Avenue man came to headquarters at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 28 to say that sometime around Jan. 14 someone removed about $100 in copper that was in his driveway. Patrolman Franzoso is investigating.
Walgreen’s security reported a burglar alarm coming from glass breakage and motion detectors 19 minutes past midnight Jan. 29 at the South Main Street store. Rear window was found smashed. Police called Hillsborough’s K-9 dog. An estimated $180 in narcotics was taken. The investigation continues.
A portable generator caught fire on Huff Avenue at 4:10 p.m. Jan. 29 and was put out.
Detective Lt. John Crater received information Jan. 31 of a fraudulent credit card transaction at CVS pharmacy on Jan. 20. Patrol officers investigated and discovered four such transactions, totaling $2,024.96, using a stolen credit card. An investigation continues.
A South Main Street woman reported at 12:35 p.m. Jan 31 that her apartment door was forced open while she was away. Patrols said a Toshiba television and DVD player, with a total value of $250, had been taken since Jan. 21.
A car awning flipped over and damaged the corner of a neighboring house on Dailey Place at 12:36 p.m. Jan. 31. The owner said she will have the awning removed.
A Bridgewater woman called at 3:16 p.m. Feb. 1 that her husband had just been assaulted by a man, whom she named, on the corner of Knopf and North 1st avenues. Patrols responded and advised parties of rights.
A South Haran Avenue woman came to headquarters at 8:05 p.m. Feb. 1 to say she lost her driver’s license on Jan. 31 in the area of South Main and Dakota.
A vehicle hit the main gate at Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street at 9 a.m. Feb. 2.
A South 9th Avenue woman came to headquarters at 1:29 p.m. Feb. 3 to say that someone scratched the hood of her vehicle overnight, causing an estimated $400 damage. She wanted the incident on the record.
A Martinsville man came to headquarters at 4:12 p.m. Feb. 3 and said that within the last hour his daughter lost her backpack with an iPod Touch, personal papers and about $90 at Walmart on North Main Street. The loss totaled about $250, he said, and he wanted it on the record.
A person missing since Jan. 29 was reported at 7:15 p.m. Feb.3. The incident was put into the national crime computer.
