POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Jan. 8

East Windsor
   This past Sunday, Feb. 3, officers responded at 12:35 a.m. to a Princeton Arms West address for a report of a father who was chasing a man that was peering into his daughter’s bedroom.
   Police said officers found the girl’s father in the area of the Princeton Arms West Apartments parking lot — detaining the suspect — Marco Jimenez, 32, of Kensington Arms Apartments. Police said the father, who was unnamed by the Police Department, and the Mr. Jimenez had been involved in a fight upon the father catching the suspect looking into the bedroom of his daughter.
   During the fight, police said, Mr. Jimenez struck the father several times with a broomstick. The father was uninjured, police stated.
   Mr. Jimenez was charged with criminal trespass, weapons offense and aggravated assault and later committed to the Mercer County Corrections Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.
   Police said a complainant reported that he had placed his iPad mini on a shelf outside the entrance to the station and left it unattended for approximately five minutes when it was stolen between 3 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Exxon Station. The iPad was valued at approximately $400.
   Zachary Westover, 23, of New Brunswick, was charged with speeding and drugs in a motor vehicle. The officer observed a 2001 Ford traveling on Route 130 northbound at 56-mph in a posted 45-mph zone. Police said 10:17 p.m. Feb. 2 the vehicle was also traveling in an erratic manner and the officer stopped the vehicle. He smelled an odor of marijuana within the vehicle and investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a bag of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, a marijuana pipe and rolling papers. He was later released pending court action.
   Officers executed a search warrant for drug distribution at a Windsor Castle address 7:15 a.m. Jan. 31. As a result of the search warrant, resident Pedro Lopez, 31, was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in a drug free school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics without prescription and weapons offense.
   Seized in the investigation were several ounces of marijuana, scales and packaging materials, non-prescribed prescription narcotics, and a set of brass knuckles, police stated.
   Bail was set at $25,000 and the Windsor Castle man was committed to the Mercer County Detention Center in lieu of bail.
The officer stopped a 1995 Pontiac on Etra Road after observing it operating without headlights on Feb. 3. Kevin Carbin, 18, of Clarksburg, New Jersey, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenance of lamps and drugs in a motor vehicle. The officer smelled the odor of marijuana within the vehicle and investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a cigarette box containing marijuana as well as a marijuana pipe, police said.
   Mr. Carbin was later released pending court action.
Hightstown
   At 4:42 p.m. Jan. 22 officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of South Street where an unnamed victim said a burglary had occurred between Nov. 12 and Jan. 22 and approximately $5,000 worth of jewelry was taken from the home, police said. The victim reported during this timeframe work was being done to the house and the house was left unsecured to facilitate the work.

   At 6:46 p.m. officers responded to a residence on Rocky Brook Drive on a report of a theft Jan. 20. The victim reported that approximately one to two weeks prior an order was placed through a clothing company but was never received by the victim, according to police. The post office confirmed delivery of the package, which was removed from the doorway prior to the victim gaining possession of such.

   Officers took a report of a past tense burglary to a motor vehicle that was parked at Michael’s Plaza, Mercer Street just after 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31. The victim reported that between 8 p.m. Jan. 29 and 7 a.m. Jan. 30 a purse was removed from the parked vehicle, which contained $240 in cash and various documents. Police said the victim did not report whether the vehicle was locked, but there was no sign of forced entry.

   At 12:20 p.m. Feb. 2 officers responded to the 100 block of Oak Lane on a reported theft of an all-terrain vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person or group of people entered a shed and removed the vehicle, valued at approximately $1,000. The ATV was described as a Yukon 600 Raptor, blue in color with white accents, police said.

   At 11:20 Feb. 4, police said officers investigated an incident of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the lot of Dennis Court and the victim, when entering the vehicle, observed the driver’s side, front door “keyed.” The incident was reported to have occurred between Jan. 28 and Jan. 29.
