WASHINGTON CROSSING, PENNSYLVANIA: Celebrate Washington’s 281st at historic park

WASHINGTON CROSSING, PENNSYLVANIA — All are invited to celebrate George Washington’s 281st birthday on Feb. 17 at the Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road.
   Admission is $1 per person.
From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Gen. George Washington and the Friends of Washington Crossing Park invite families and friends to visit the historic buildings and celebrate the general’s birthday.
”Have the kids/grandkids watch the blacksmith work, learn how food was cooked over an open hearth during the Revolution, dress up as a colonial, participate in a scavenger hunt, enjoy storytelling, crafts, and even practice real drill exercises,” said a spokesman.
The Marbleheaders will be on hand to discuss piloting the Durham Boats across the Delaware on Christmas night, 1776. At 1:30 p.m., you can sing Happy Birthday to the general himself! Don’t worry; the general will share his birthday cake and cupcakes with all who attend!
The grand opening of the new Visitor Center will be held on March, 10 and will begin the new season of guided tours of the park that same day. Tours of the Lower Park and the Thompson-Neely House will be available Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for $6 each.
Bowman’s Hill Tower will be open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. for $6 each. A discounted combination ticket for all three locations will be available for $11. Tickets may be purchased at any of the three locations. The recreational areas of the park are open for use from dawn to dusk all year, weather permitting.
