Towing companies were kept busy early Saturday morning removing vehicle from snow emergency routes.
Police called wreckers to take at least 10 vehicles off streets.
The first call was at 1:54 a.m. on Huff Avenue. Tow trucks also were called at 2:18 a.m. and 2:22 a.m. to remove vehicles from the South 14th Avenue snow route, off Stonewall Avenue at 2:37 a.m. and off Dominic Street four times between 3:52 and 4:03 a.m.
A wrecker was requested at 7:08 a.m. on the North 3rd Avenue snow emergency street, but the owner showed up and settled with the towing company. At 7:09 a.m., wreckers were called to remove parked vehicles on North 3rd and East Frech avenues.
The Department of Public Works asks residents to remove all vehicles from the streets so they may be plowed from curb to curb. Vehicles cannot be parked on emergency streets (marked by signs) when they are snow-covered. Failure to remove a vehicle could result in a traffic summons under a borough ordinance.
Five different towing companies were used Saturday.
