The owner/landlord of a North 6th Avenue rental property told police Feb. 4 at 7:08 p.m. that a former female tenant, 52, who was evicted Jan. 25, took about $500 in assorted items, including the clothes dryer.
The landlord said she had $1,875.19 in security deposit and is handling the case through civil court, but wanted the incident on the record.
• A Kennedy Boulevard woman reported at 9:47 p.m. Feb. 4 that water moisture in the wall melted an electrical outlet. Patrols, fire and rescue were dispatched. A faulty plug was found.
• A South 17th Avenue woman called at 1 p.m. Feb. 5 and said that 20 minutes earlier, an unknown man came to her door looking for junk. She couldn’t describe him, but wanted to report the matter. Patrols responded but didn’t find anyone in the area.
• At 2:30 p.m. Feb. 5, Adesa Auto Auction reported having a vehicle reported stolen at its North Main Street gate. Patrols confirmed the vehicle had been reported taken from Newark.
• A caller said at 1:11 a.m. Feb. 6 that a blue pickup truck and a black pickup truck were following each other on South 15th Avenue, turning their headlights on and off and stopping near homes.
Patrols responded and stopped a vehicle on Camplain Road that was not related to the incident. Otherwise, patrols found vehicles were gone.
• A caller said she heard bells coming from a Kennedy Boulevard address at 3:38 a.m. Feb. 6. She asked that no officers come to her home. Patrols in the area didn’t hear any bells.
• A South 15th Avenue man reported loud noises and screaming from a nearby residence at 11:27 a.m. Feb. 6. Patrols found a man playing video games and screaming at the screen.
• A South 13th Avenue woman said at 7:32 p.m. Feb. 6 that someone had tried to get into her apartment. Patrols found damage to the doorframe, but didn’t know if entry had been made. No items were taken. The investigation is to continue.
• A Monroe man came to headquarters at 5:44 a.m. Feb. 7 to report he had hit a deer near Pizza and Pasta at 930 S. Main St., damaging his auto’s front bumper.
• A South Street woman said that at 1:14 a.m. Friday two men in a white vehicle had smashed a TV in the street. Patrols reported the TV had been cleaned up and the vehicle gone.
• The rescue squad was dispatched at 7:25 a.m. Friday to a report of a pedestrian struck near a building on the Adesa Auto Auction property on North Main Street. A Manville man, 60, was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
• County communications dispatched the rescue squad and medics at 5:09 p.m. Friday to Gladys Avenue for a man who may have been stuck under a dresser for three days. A man, 55, was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
• A South Street woman said at 12:23 p.m. Saturday that someone had entered her apartment in the overnight hours. Patrols spoke with a woman who said her ex-boyfriend may have entered through an unlocked window. She reported nothing disturbed or missing.
• A South 6th Avenue caller at 3:46 p.m. Saturday reported a blue ATV being driven recklessly on the street. Patrols responded and couldn’t find the vehicle.
• A 91-year-old woman asked for police to respond to her Pope Street home to assist with a possible sweepstakes scam at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Patrols told her not to send any money, and she destroyed the sweepstakes advertisement.
• Patrolman William Sampson was out with a driver on South Street at 1:50 a.m. Monday when the vehicle fled the scene, but was stopped at South Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The driver, Ryan McFarlane, 36, of Monmouth Junction, was arrested for drunken driving, booked and released to his wife. Police said the vehicle may have been involved in a motor vehicle collision in a parking lot on South Street.
