FLEMINGTON: Food banks will get aid from soup event

FLEMINGTON — Hunterdon County Rotary Clubs are sponsoring the sixth annual Hunterdon County Soup Cook-Off on Feb. 25 from 5-7 p.m. in Hunterdon Central High School’s Commons, located off of Junction Road in Flemington.
ShopRite of Hunterdon is the sponsor of the event.
All cook-off proceeds will be donated to the five food banks in Hunterdon County communities. Over $6,500 was donated from this event in 2012.
Up to 20 professional soup chefs are expected to enter their favorite soups and compete for the title of “Best Soup in Hunterdon County.”
Soup lovers are invited to attend and taste sample-size cups of any and all soups for just $10. For children 5 to 8, the cost is $5. For children under 5, there is no cost.
All tasters will be asked to vote for their favorite soup and winners will be announced at the end of the event.
The soups will be accompanied by bread/rolls prepared by the Hunterdon County Polytech Culinary Arts students and cookies prepared by the Family and Consumer Science Department students of Hunterdon Central High School.
   Beverages also will be available.
The soup cook-off is a community awareness project of the Hunterdon County Rotary Clubs, in recognition of International Rotary Day.
The Rotary Clubs of Flemington, North Hunterdon, Lambertville-New Hope and Whitehouse are service clubs dedicated to helping people in the community and throughout the world.
