Fire company hosts
annual fish fry
   Friday, Feb. 22 — Fire Company No. 3 at 324 Woods Road will hold its annual fish fry buffet, 4:30-8 p.m. Buffet includes baked tilapia, fried cod, fried clams, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, pierogies, vegetable medley, french fries, rice, homemade cole slaw, salad, desserts.
   Adults, $12; senior citizens (60 and older), $11; children 5 to 12, $9, and 4 and under, free. Tickets at the door.
Auxiliary to run
vendor fair, auction
   Sunday, Feb. 24 — Fire Company No. 3 Auxiliary will hold a vendor fair and basket auction at the firehouse, 324 Woods Road, from noon to 4 p.m. Basket auction has prizes from local businesses. For info, contact Kristine Nowacki at [email protected].
Project Graduation
to sell used dresses
   Sat., Feb. 23 — Donations of prom and evening wear (all sizes) are needed by Project Graduation. To donate, contact Sharon at 908-930-3135 or drop dresses at high school attendance office.
   A sale of the dresses priced at $10-$50 (cash only) will be held 9 a.m.–3 p.m. in Hillsborough High School Commons Area. All proceeds benefit this year’s Project Graduation.
   Project Graduation’s annual fashion show will be held at 7 p.m. March 23 in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 senior/students. Featured are senior prom attire and younger children in casual wear. Contact Robin at 908-307-4160.
Purim carnival
is open to public
   Sun., Feb. 24 — Congregation Kehilat Shalom, 253 Griggstown Road, Belle Mead, will host a Purim carnival from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Music by Showstoppers Plus, games, crafts, prizes, refreshments, hamantaschen, raffle. Non-members welcome.

   Thurs., Feb. 28 — The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance’s Politics Book Club will meet at Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta in the Kingsbridge Shopping Center on South Branch Road from 7-9 p.m. to discuss “Blessed are the Organized: Grassroots Democracy in America” by Jeffrey Stout.

   Thurs., Feb. 28 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hear Mary Kay Muckenhoupt talk about the history of herbs and herb gardening in New Jersey at 11 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station. Garden club to hear
about chocolate tree
   Thur., March 21 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station. The program will be “The Chocolate Tree: From Ancient Food to Modern Medicine.” The botany, history, and use of cacao are the focus of this presentation by Tom J. Gianfagna, professor of plant biology and pathology at Rutgers University.

   Community theater — “Play It Again, Sam,” a Woody Allen play with ties to the Humphrey Bogart movie, plays weekends through Feb. 22 through March 10 at the Somerset Valley Players theater, 689 Amwell Road (Route 514).    Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.

   Divorce support group — A non-denominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7-8:30 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. 908-295-6740.
