Kathleen Montanez, 54, of Perrineville, was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane 11:25 p.m. Feb. 8 on Etra Road. Police said an officer responded to a report of a single vehicle accident with the vehicle off the Etra Road in the woods. The driver was found to be unsteady on her feet and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, watery eyes. She was uninjured in the accident. She was given field sobriety tests and charged with DWI. She was later released pending court action.
Officers responded the Target store for a report of a shoplifting complaint 3:26 p.m. Feb. 9. Store personnel reported that two juvenile suspects had been observed wandering around the electronics department and removing security devices from several items. Police said the two were observed by officers on the security system to take several items and leave the store. One of the kids, age 14, was arrested as he left the store. The second, 17, fled from the officers on foot but was caught shortly afterwards, police said. The stolen property, worth $126.23, was returned to the store and the juveniles were released to family members pending court action. Both teens were from Hightstown. The 14-year-old was charged with shoplifting; the 17-year-old was charged with obstructing and shoplifting.
Steven Bleicher, 44, of Bolton Road, was charged with under the influence of narcotics, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to maintain lane on Route 133 at 9:35 p.m. Feb. 10.The officer observed a 2012 Toyota traveling westbound on Rt. 133 in an erratic manner, police said. The vehicle was stopped after it exited Route 133 and pulled into the Burger King parking lot. The driver was found to have slurred speech and passed out while the officer was conducting his investigation. He was awakened and administered field sobriety tests. He was later released pending court action.
Police said a theft occurred at McDonald’s between 1 a.m. and 1:10 a.m. Feb. 11. The complainant reported that he had left the McDonald’s restaurant and left his iPhone worth approximately $200 on the table. He returned several minutes later but the iPhone had been stolen.
Hightstown
At 11:25 p.m. Feb. 5 on Stockton Street, officers charged Janice Nimley, 23, of Trenton, with contempt of court. Police said Ms. Nimley was stopped for a motor vehicle infraction and while performing a credential check was found to have an active traffic warrant in the amount of $500 issued by Ewing Township Municipal Court. Ms. Nimley was later released upon posting bail.
At 10:09 p.m. Feb. 9 officers responded to the 100 block of Rogers Avenue on a report of a fight in progress. Police said, upon arrival, officers charged Eduardo Cammillo-Ruiz, a 26, New Brunswick, with possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, and harassment after observing him strike a person on the ground. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Cammillo-Ruiz assaulted the unnamed victim with a beer bottle causing the person to receive five staples to the head for suffered wounds. Mr. Cammillo-Ruiz was charged with aggravated assault. He was released upon posting bail in the amount of $10,000 with 10 pending option, with pending court action.
At 2:46 a.m. officers responded to the 200 block of Franklin Street for a fight in progress complaint Feb. 10. Upon arrival officers observed people with minor injuries as a result of a mutual combatant altercation; men were highly intoxicated, police said. They were treated at the scene for their injuries and were then taken into custody. The two involved in the fight were Conrrado Hernandez, 20, of Franklin Street; and Rocael Cabrera, 27, of Windsor Castle, East Windsor. Both men were charged with simple assault. They were released on a summons complaint with pending court action.
Between 12:01 a.m. Feb. 7 and 3 p.m. Feb. 10 two vehicles parked on Outcalt Street had tires slashed with an unknown object, consistent with a knife, according to police. The victims reported not seeing anyone in the area and had each tire replaced with an estimated loss of approximately $150 each. Both vehicles had only one tire slashed during the incident or incidents.
