Seniors Enjoy Drumming Circle

By Toby Ehrlich
On a recent afternoon, residents at The Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence in Somerset, New Jersey, enjoyed participating in a drumming circle. A drum circle is a hands-on, rhythm-based event at which a facilitator leads the group in playing drums and hand percussion instruments. No musical experience is necessary in order to participate. But why, you may wonder, would a group of seniors be participating in this type of activity? The answer lies in the benefits that drumming provides.  These benefits include the ability to work as part of a group, stress reduction, relaxation, and improving ones focus, and just plain fun. The residents at our assisted living enjoyed the drumming circle so much that it will become a regular activity on our monthly calendar of events.    To find out more about The Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence or to join us for a drumming circle, contact us at 732-568-1155, or info@ wilfcampus.org.
