EAST WINDSOR: Kreps middle school lauded

   The Student Council of Melvin H. Kreps Middle School received several recognitions at this year’s New Jersey Association of Student Councils (NJASC) winter conference held on Jan. 9 at the campus of The College of New Jersey, according to a press release.
   Eighth-grader Parnika Puri completed her term as Middle Level Representative on the NJASC Executive Board. As an Executive Board member of NJASC, Parnika attended the Region 2 and National Conferences. She assisted with the planning and implementation of the 2012 NJASC Leadership Training Conference held in July. Parnika’s duties as Middle Level Representative included obtaining the NJ Student Council Proclamation from Gov. Chris Christie and processing the NJASC Honor School Awards. .
   Another eighth grade student, Ananya Ramachandran was presented with the Middle Level Student Leader of the Year Award. Ananya has been a leader in the Kreps Student Council for the past three years, serving on its executive board as public relations chair, Spirit Days chair, and Community Service chair. She is involved in numerous other clubs and activities at Kreps including the school musical.
   Lastly, Kreps middle school was named a Year Two Honor School. To be eligible to receive this recognition, a student council must demonstrate that it meets on a regular basis, follows proper parliamentary procedure, runs proper school officer elections, and provides services that benefit the school and community.
