HILLSBOROUGH: Nuara, Catrombon elected fire commissioners

$1.7 million in taxes for fire district approved easily

   Voters chose Jon Catrombon Jr. and Charlie Nuara, both members from Fire Company No. 3 on Woods Road, as fire commissioners in the annual election Saturday.
   Voters also approved spending $1.7 million in property taxes on fire and emergency operations. The vote was yes 294 yes and 49 no.
   Mr. Nuara received 275 votes, and Mr. Jon Catrombon 258. Incumbent Commissioner Matt DeCicco from Fire Company No. 1 in Flagtown was defeated in his try for a fourth three-year term on the board. He got 123 votes.
   There were two write-in votes for David Gwin.
   ”With this year’s budget, the companies in town will be able to purchase our necessary equipment to provide better and safer fire prevention and protection,” reads a statement on the Fire Co. No. 2 website.
