A food drive will be held this Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Quick Chek on Brooks Boulevard and Main Street to benefit Manville residents in need.
Sponsored by The Caritas Ministry, there will also be alternate dropoff sites at Manville Pizza, Hair House International and Bucky’s, all on South Main Street.
Barbara Demchak, a member of the ministry, said that Caritas, which means “caring” in Latin, was formed in October with members of Christ the King and Sacred Heart churches.
“We are currently feeding 64 people in Manville,” she said. “We collect nonperishable food, cash, and gift cards and distribute to families in need that reside in Manville.”
The food drive is also supported by the Manville High School Key Club and advisor Mary Paplawski. High school students come to help out during the drive and the Hair House International has been collecting gift cards and food for the ministry since November.
Food, gift cards and money can be brought to any of the locations Saturday during the drive hours.
