HIGHTSTOWN — A homeless man was seized by authorities as part of a local police and federal agency operation 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14.
Last Thursday the Hightstown Borough Police Department, in cooperation with the Immigration Custom Enforcement Child Pornography Unit of the Department of Homeland Security, apprehended Jonathan Mendheim, 33, on a United States arrest warrant issued for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
A homeless person, police said Mr. Mendheim was wanted in connection with receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography.
Police said his last known address was in Indianapolis, Indiana until he was located in the parking lot of Michael’s Plaza, Mercer Street, Hightstown.
Acting upon information provided from the investigation, Mr. Mendheim’s vehicle was located in the parking lot of Michael’s Plaza and surveillance on the vehicle began and concluded with Mr. Mendheim being taken into custody upon returning to the vehicle, police said.
Mr. Mendheim, who was a wanted person with full extradition, was processed and released to the custody of federal agents of Department of Homeland Security without incident, police said.
