MANVILLE: Library offers thrift shopping program Tuesday

Now part of the Somerset County Library system Manville library is expanding their services, programs and invites everyone to come and use the services and participate in programs.
“Our goal is to get people into the library after our little hiatus and also having them use our online tools to sign up when they can’t come in physically” said Nan Peterson, adults librarian.
Library staff wants the community to know that the library is there for them and has more resources for them to use. The staff wants to introduce residents to the website and to use it. Staffers are still available to answer questions over the phone or by stopping by the library.
Some of the upcoming activities sponsored by the library include a consignment shopping session on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. Gretchen Pierce will give attendees tips for savings at local thrift stores, shopping strategies, creating fantastic outfits for less and online resources.

For March it will be a science experiment highlighting math, science and technology in a child-friendly way. Children must be at least 7 years old to participate.
If you always wanted to learn how to play chess now is the chance by signing up for free chess lessons. Lessons are for all ages Monday through Thursday and you need to stop by the circulation desk to schedule a time.
Looking ahead, children’s librarian Ruth Bielanski is planning a Dr. Seuss party in honor of his birthday. The party will be held Monday, March 4, for pre-kindergarten to 5th grade from 6-7:15 p.m. There will be crafts, activities and fun.
