NEW HOPE: Parry image search goes on

NEW HOPE — She was the daughter of Oliver and Ruth (Watson) Paxson, born in New Hope, then known as Coryell’s Ferry, on Jan. 24, 1767, at their Maple Grove home, located at the end of a winding driveway on West Bridge Street east of the New Hope-Solebury High School.
On Nov. 14, 1787, Jane married Benjamin Parry, later to be known as the “Father of New Hope” at the Buckingham Friends Meetinghouse.
They moved into the Parry Mansion at 45 S. Main St., in New Hope after their marriage.
Jane and Benjamin had one son, Oliver, and three daughters, Ruth, Jane and Margaret. Oliver married Rachel Randolph and Margaret married Charles Knowles. Ruth and Jane never married.
Jane Paxson Parry died in Philadelphia on May 13, 1826, and was buried at the Friends cemetery at 4th and Arch streets in Philadelphia.
In the following century when streets were realigned by the city, her tombstone was lost, leaving the exact location of her burial site unknown.
The New Hope Historical Society has assembled a comprehensive genealogical chart with photographs of family members spanning five generations.
But an extensive, ongoing search has failed to find any image of Jane Paxson Parry.
The Historical Society is seeking an image of Jane Paxson Parry to complete the picture of the Parry Family and to include it in the upgraded genealogical chart that is now under production.
The Historical Society asks that anyone who has an image or drawing of Jane Paxson Parry, or knows where one can be located to contact the society at [email protected] at 215-862-5652.
