ROBBINSVILLE: Seniors to compete for ‘Mr. Robbinsville’ title

Twelve senior boys and their female escorts at Robbinsville High School are busy putting the final touches on the Annual Mr. RHS Show 2013.
The show, “Mr. RHS,” can be described as a hybrid combination of “American Idol” meets male beauty pageant. It will take place at Robbinsville High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, and will rely on the audience participation to choose a winner.
The usual twist is having each of the 12 senior boys represent their birthday month, thus giving them titles like “Mr. May” and “Mr. September.”
Competing in the pageant are Mr. January Rahul Jairam, Mr. FebruaryTyler DeMartin, Mr. March Niraj Nayak, Mr. April Kenny Wright, Mr. May Dalton Bischer, Mr. June David Haftel, Mr. July Ryan Febles, Mr. August Brendan Barca, Mr. September Dom Schillaci, Mr. October Sam Achrampong, Mr. November Steve Krebs and Mr. December Matt Forno.
Audience members will use their admission ticket, during intermission, to place in the bucket of the senior whom they favor. The audience can purchase additional ticket votes, also. The senior who has the most tickets will be crowned Mr. RHS 2013.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for and senior citizens, and can be purchased at the door the evening of the show.
The show is a fun way to fundraise for the graduating class. By this point most of the students are deciding on which college to attend and who their prom date will be. This event will help the students reinforce the friendships and memories at RHS they will look back on. “Mr. RHS” is an annual tradition and fundraiser for the senior class prom ticket cost reduction.
Each contestant submitted a request to participate to the panel of organizers, and they will be appearing in skits to showcase his dancing, singing abilities with two senior girls. The boys will also be asked a question by the two senior emcees to allow the audience to get some insight as to which candidate they think should be Mr. RHS 2013.
The show will return after an intermission for a behind-the-scenes video that will feature the details about the preparation for the show, immediately followed by a “formal wear strut” in which contestants will showcase their tuxedos while a brief funny bio is read about each of them by the emcees.
The show will culminate with a choreographed dance performed by the 12 Mr. RHS contestants and immediately following will be the crowning of Mr. RHS 2013.
