HIGHTSTOWN: Church works to feed the hungry

HIGHTSTOWN — Over Super Bowl weekend, Feb. 2 and Feb. 3, the parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church, worked to raise funds to feed the poor.
For the past several years, members of St. Anthony’s Social Justice Committee have held large soup pots while standing at the church doors asking for monetary donations to help feed the poor, the parish said in a release.
This year $1,611 was collected and given to Rise, a nonprofit based in the borough which serves local children and families in need; for the food pantry; and two local soup kitchens held at The First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Hightstown.
