A Sayreville man involved in a morning crash on Route 1 in October has died from his injuries, according to police.
Jimmy Rivera, 41, of Sayreville was seriously injured at 6:07 a.m. on Oct. 24 when his 2004 Kia Sportage smashed into the rear of a dump truck on Route 1 and Independence Way.
Police said he was initially treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, but was later transferred to a rehabilitation center where he developed complications from his injuries, and died Wednesday night.
An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner Thursday determined the complications from the crash caused his death, according to police.
According to police, an investigation of the accident by the South Brunswick Traffic Safety Bureau lead investigators to believe driver fatigue may have been a factor in the accident.
