will speak at social
Wed., March 6 — The 19th township Economic and Business Development Commission’s business social will be at Royce Brook Golf Club, 201 Hamilton Road, 6-9 p.m.
Meet with business colleagues and township officials, including from the business permitting and inspections departments. Last spring’s event had more than 200 registered attendees.
RSVP as soon as possible. A $10 fee is payable at door. The menu is a chef’s choice of pasta and salad selections.

Fri., March 15 — HSA holds basket auction at VFW Hall, 600 Washington Ave., Manville. Doors open at 6 p.m.; auction starts at 8 p.m. $13 in advance, $15 at door. Admission includes one sheet of Level 1 tickets and hot appetizers. Reserved seating is available for groups of 8 or more on a first-come, first-served basis. Girl Scouts to host
swim safety clinic
Sun., March 17 — Hillsborough Junior Girl Scout Troop 60230 will work to keep children from drowning by working with the Hillsborough YMCA in a free swimming and safety skills clinic for children ages 7 to 8 on , from 2 to 2 to 3:30 p.m. Certified swim instructors and YMCA swim team members will teach kids the importance of water safety and the fundamentals.
Garden club to hear
about chocolate tree
Thur., March 21 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station. The botany, history, and use of cacao will be the focus of “The Chocolate Tree: From Ancient Food to Modern Medicine” by Tom J. Gianfagna, professor of plant biology and pathology at Rutgers University.
