The congregation of the South Branch Reformed Church will celebrate Pastor Stephen Eckert’s 10th anniversary with the church on Sunday, March 3.
Rev. Eckert began his ministry at South Branch on March 3, 2003, and quickly became part of the Hillsborough community. Currently he serves with Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company 1 as chaplain and engineer.
Steve is the third of four brothers. He decided to be a minister in the fourth grade and worked toward that goal by attending Hope College in Michigan and New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
He credits his parents, Barbara and Frank Eckert, with his guiding philosophy, “Do your best at whatever you do.” Looking back over the last 10 years, he said he is most satisfied with the growth of fellowship within the congregation.
Rev. Eckert also serves as denominational executive of the Mid-Atlantic region and the Stated Clerk of the Synod of Delaware-Raritan Classis.
Rev. Eckert leads the South Branch Reformed Church in worship every Sunday at 10 a.m. and recommends the “all-you-can-eat” dinners held in March, April, June, September, November and January.
