In an attempt to topple the Bound Brook girls’ recreation basketball team for a second time, Manville fell shy, 39-25, on the weekend.
Scoring for Manville were Julie Pankowski, Victoria Schuyler, Nicole Schuyler, Siobhan Flynn and Isabella Sanchez.
The whole team stayed focused with a“never say quit” attitude throughout the game, said Coach Pam Mack. The score went back and forth for most of the game with both teams blocking shots and stealing the ball away from the other. Manville kept up a good defense until the very end and played with pride.
Coach Mack said, “I couldn’t ask for a better team with such great kids! Not to mention, we are a 5-8th grade team playing against a 7-8th grade teams in this league. The Manville parents have done a great job in raising these fine little women and they show it through their enthusiasm.”
At 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, Manville will have a chance to avenge a loss to South Bound Brook. Coach Mack invites everyone to watch the game and to cheer the team on.
