Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s 11th Annual
Spirit of Jane Rodney Celebration moves to the historic Trenton War Memorial
Lawrenceville, N.J – February 12, 2013 – The Central and South Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is pleased to announce that the 11th Annual Spirit of Jane Rodney Celebration will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013. This year’s elegant evening will be held at the historic Trenton War Memorial, a new venue for the signature event.
Mary Beth Madill and Beth James, committee co-chairs, discussed the move. “We are really looking forward to a great night. The architecture and history of the Trenton War Memorial will add a new dimension to the celebration,” stated Mary Beth Madill. Beth James added “We have some exciting things planned for the venue that will really highlight the auction and of course add a touch of pink.”
This fabulous night will be celebrated in style with exceptional jazz entertainment and a spectacular silent auction and great food and drinks. The evening begins at 6:30 pm with a reception on the historic stage followed by a sit down dinner and more surprises!
The event is held in memory of Jane Rodney worked at the BreastCancerResourceCenter and brought the Race for the Cure to New Jersey in 1994. She inspired others to take action and many of our volunteers and supporters worked with Jane many years ago. Jane lost her own battle with breast cancer in 2002, but her work lives on. Each year the affiliate honors community leaders who exemplify her spirit.

All proceeds will help fulfill the Komen mission of ending breast cancer forever by funding local breast cancer screening and education programs as well as breast cancer research. Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise led to the creation of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. The Central and South Jersey Komen Affiliate serves women in 13 counties of New Jersey from Somerset to Cape May.
