New Jersey Department of Health Children’s Oral Health Program
Celebrates Sugar-Less Day To Prevent Tooth Decay 2013!
In recognition of National Nutrition Month which takes place in March, students at South Amboy Elementary School in South Amboy participated in the New Jersey Department of Health Children’s Oral Health Program Sugar-Less Day to Prevent Tooth Decay event on Friday, March 1st, 2013.
All fourth graders at the school attended an educational presentation led by Registered Dental Hygienist, Maggie McLaughlin who emphasized with the students the importance of brushing, flossing, regular dental visits and healthy food choices. Students also participated in an oral health poster contest. First and second place ribbons were awarded and all students received a Certificate of Participation and oral healthcare kit.
The New Jersey Department of Health provides grant funds to Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers and Central Jersey Family Health Consortium to implement the Statewide Children’s Oral Health Program. The program provides free age appropriate oral health and hygiene education to school age students throughout the State.
