I n response to a recent letter to the editor that carried the headline, “Freeholder Should Apologize for Her Insensitive Remark,” I would suggest that the person expressing such deep resentment of Monmouth County Freeholder Lillian Burry’s statement review the meaning of the term “hyperbole” (the use of exaggeration to evoke strong feelings). Well, Ms. Burry obviously evoked those feelings in at least one person, but more importantly, she expressed one of the beautiful traits of our democracy and that is that justice should be “blind” and that our laws should be administered equally regardless of the person or persons involved.
