Fifth Grade Play: The Winter’s Tale
An exciting new production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale in collaboration with the McCarter Theatre residency program will be performed in Princeton by Johnson Park fifth graders on March 8th. The production will be the culmination of a six week long intensive acting program led by former Broadway actress and McCarter director, Rebecca Simon.
The  students can barely contain their excitement. The McCarter acting program at Johnson Park has truly inspired this young group of actors. They have studied the craft of acting, learned about making ‘tableaux’, learned how to move across a stage with acting terms such as downstage-left, downstage-right, upstage-left and
upstage-right. We learned how to project our voices, and most of all, how to "cheat" our body properly!
According to Meghna, a fifth grader at Johnson Park Elementary School, being part of The Winter’s Tale was a wonderful experience. We learned how to be LOUD and we learned to be focused.
Our play will be held at the school on March 8th starting at 9:30 am and 7:00 pm. There will be a gallery in the cafeteria exhibiting some of the children’s work, including diaries written from the characters point of view, designed coat of arms expressing the students hobbies and interests. The play will be held in the gym, doors open at 6:30 for the evening performance. Admission is FREE!
We hope you can come and see our production of The Winter’s Tale.
