WEST AMWELL — An upgrade to the security system at South Hunterdon Regional High School was approved by the school board at its Feb. 21 meeting, said Kerry Sevilis, the district’s business administrator/board secretary.
At that meeting, the board approved hiring SDG Security to install and monitor the upgrade, for $29,073.
The board also approved hiring Ozias Lawn Care and Landscaping for two jobs. The firm will be paid $8,896 to prepare the school’s baseball and softball fields for the upcoming season, and to maintain those fields during the season.
In a separate vote, the board also OK’d paying Ozias $3,451 to upgrade the school’s front parking lot area.
In personnel matters, the board approved paying Dapne Rodriguez as a home instructor at the contractual rate of $45 per hour.
Scott Ward, who has two years experience, was hired as this year’s spring track coach for $4,217.
Trevor Johnson was hired as this year’s junior varsity softball coach for $4,055. This will be his first year filling that position.
John Franzini was hired as a volunteer coach, to assist the varsity softball team.
Approved as substitute teachers for the rest of this school year were Cynthia Darby, Sharon Fisher, Veronica Geyer, Kyle Hart, Avi Kazman, Meghan Lemli and Shannon Williams.
A number of school staff members were appointed as chaperones for the upcoming Midnight Madness Activity Night.
Julie Kavanaugh will be the coordinator of the event. Bernadette Connor will be in charge of soccer and basketball. Scott Kresge will be in charge of games. Krista Regan will be in charge of volleyball and dodgeball. Ewa Kozier and Melanie Francis will be in charge of art.
