SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Veteran officer retires

Sgt. Robert Weiler, a 25-year veteran of the police department has called it a day.
The officer hung up his gun and badge last Thursday, according to the department.
”Bob always gave a 110 percent. He prided himself on living in the community and making a difference,” Chief of Police Raymond Hayducka said in a statement announcing the retirement last week. “Roadway safety was always at the forefront of his efforts. We are better as a department because we had officers like Bob who have worked for us.”
According to the agency, Sgt. Weiler served as a police officer for 25 years, with the last 19 years in South Brunswick.
During that time, he was assigned to both the patrol and traffic division, and was promoted to sergeant in 2007.

In 2005 he was instrumental in the updating the municipalities code of traffic ordinances, according to the release.
In his time of service he received six commendations and 15 commendation letters for handling a variety of incidents from delivering a baby to capturing burglars, according to the agency.
