Justin Petti and C.J. Petrone won gold medals at the Metuchen Tournament on March 3.
Petti pinned his opponent in his first match and dominated in the finals, 10-0. Petrone won his first match with a pin and handled his opponent, 8-1, in the finals.
Lucas Rios, Brandon Rivera and Danny Lions took home silver medals with victories in their first matches. Gavin Barney took home the silver with a one win and a pin in his final match. With a win in his final match, Jorge Barsa took home a silver medal.
Doug Toth and Anthony DeSanto took home bronze medals
Dominick DeSanto, who had a pin in his final match, also took home a bronze. Alex Cichon wrestled well enough to take home fourth place.
Coaches Tony DeSanto, Dennis Petti, George Cichon and Paul Whitenight worked with the 5- to 10-year-olds throughout the day.
Coach Tom Caswell said, “The reason why Manville won so many medals today was through the hard work of these coaches. I want to personally thank all of them and because of their dedication the team grows stronger and will help seed our high school wrestling program in years to come.”
