A cleaning crew apparently left a door open at Delilah’s restaurant on Washington Avenue, triggering an alarm at 9:45 a.m. March 4. When checked, all was secure.
A man called at 2:45 a.m. March 5 and said he believed someone tried to enter his vehicle, which was parked in front of his house on Huff Avenue. When he came out of the house, he saw a small pickup truck with a loud exhaust drive away, he said. Police couldn’t find the vehicle. There was no damage to the man’s vehicle.
Adesa Auto Auction reported locating a stolen 2009 Dodge Charger on its North Main Street lot at 3:38 p.m. March 5. Police in New York City were sent a teletype.
A Brooks Boulevard man called at 9:38 p.m. March 5 and said a vehicle driven by his wife nearly hit a heavyset man in a light-colored T-shirt who “dove” in front of her vehicle near the North Side Tavern on the street. No contact was made. Police checked, but found no one.
A caller at 2:10 p.m. March 6 reported a Whalen Street telephone pole, rotted at the bottom, was swaying in the wind. Patrols shut down the road and PSE&G was contacted.
A Huff Avenue woman who works at Adesa said her wallet was stolen March 6. She told police her job is to moves cars, and she left her wallet in the back of a transport van. When she went to retrieve it, it was gone, she said at about 5 p.m. Estimated loss was $75.
A deliveryman for Shorepoint Distributors told police at 10 a.m. March 7 that an 18-pack of Coors Light beer, worth $12.50, was taken off his truck when he stopped to make a delivery at Cyburt’s Liquors on South Main Street.
Branchburg police came to headquarters at 12:36 p.m. March 7 to turn over Michael J. Serge, 49, of Hillsborough on two Manville warrants totaling $2,127. He is taken to Somerset County Jail in default.
A Delaware dealer plate was reported stolen at 1:15 p.m. March 7 from a vehicle parked in the Adesa lot on North Main Street. The same person reported at 3 p.m. that a second, similar dealer plate was taken. At 3:26 a different auto sales representative said someone stole his dealer plate while it was in the Adesa lot. All three plates were entered into the national crime registry.
A Brooks Boulevard man reported at 1:36 p.m. March 7 that the driver’s side taillight on his vehicle was damaged, with an estimated repair at $50.
A man told police at 2:08 p.m. March 7 that his rear view mirrors on his 2006 BMW were taken between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. while in the Adesa lot. Estimated value was put at $300.
A caller at 8:19 p.m. March 7 said a customer who didn’t have enough money for gas had left the station. Patrols reported a North 3rd Avenue woman returned and settled her bill.

A woman said she confronted a man lying on the ground on North Main Street whom she recognized as a neighbor at 7:30 p.m. March 8. The man threatened to damage her vehicle, she said. Patrols checked the area and were unable to locate the person. The woman was advised of her rights and given a citizen complaint form.
A caller came to headquarters at11:52 a.m. Saturday and said a protestor was too close to the front of Planned Parenthood, which is currently closed, on South Main Street in violation of a law. The person was gone by the time police arrived.
A Kennedy Boulevard man said at 10:26 a.m. Sunday that someone entered his apartment the previous day between 8 and 10 a.m. and removed 19 strips of suboxone, which is used to treat narcotic addiction. The strips were valued at $181, but covered by insurance.
A woman called at 11:09 a.m. Sunday and said kids had been entering her abandoned house on Lincoln Avenue and smoking inside. Patrols said entry was made through windows, and secured them.
Police and fire responded to a report of a bush on fire on Lincoln Avenue at 8:12 p.m. Sunday. Patrols reported a mulch fire in the front yard. The fire was put out but a stop sign and dead-end signs were damaged.
