Two Mercer County Residents Honored at Renew the Promise
Lawrenceville, NJ – March 8, 2013 – The Central and South Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure hosted “Renew the Promise,” an annual volunteer and supporter thank you party on March 7th at the Conference Center at Mercer. Anne Cardello and Renee Sullivan were the recipients of the Promise of One Award, recognized for their outstanding contributions to Komen through volunteerism.
Volunteers are the heart of every initiative at Komen Central and South Jersey and are critical to the implementation of our mission. They enable the organization to strengthen existing programs, add new programs, procure funds and resources, add specialized skills and talents, and increase public awareness of services.
Anne and Renee have been involved with Komen in some capacity since the inception of the Race. Over the last several years, Anne and Renee have been co-chairing the volunteer tent, one of the most essential tents at the Race – ensuring 800+ volunteers are well versed on their responsibilities and receive all the necessary credentials prior to their volunteer shift. They are the first two faces that everyone sees at the Race and set the tone for the entire day. Their volunteer spirit and selflessness serve as benchmarks for all volunteers and are the perfect honorees for this award.
“We are ecstatic to honor Anne and Renee. We couldn’t think of two people more deserving of this award and we are so thankful for their ongoing support to Komen and dedication to our mission,” stated Nancy K. Healey, Executive Director.
Nearly 250 people attended “Renew the Promise.” Along with the Promise of One Award, Komen Superstar Awards were presented to The Pennington School, Panek’s Golf Car Service, Monmouth Medical Center, Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey, Dr. Danielle Brenza, and Demountable Concepts, Inc.
