Garden club to hear
about chocolate tree
   Thur., March 21 — The Neshanic Garden Club will host Tom Gianfagna, professor of plant biology and pathology at Rutgers University, at 11 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street in Neshanic Station.
   He’ll talk about the botany, history and use of cacao in “The Chocolate Tree: From Ancient Food to Modern Medicine.”

Church women host
luncheon for charity
   Thurs., March 21 — The United Methodist Women will host their annual Spring Fling luncheon and bazaar to benefit local charities, including Agape House, Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank and Somerset County Adult Day Care Center. The $12 ticket includes chicken and a variety of other salads. 11 a.m.-2 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 48 West High St., Somerville.
Project Graduation
to host fashion show
   Sat., March 23 — Project Graduation’s annual fashion show will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hillsborough High School auditorium. Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 senior/students. Featured are senior prom attire and younger children in casual wear. Contact Robin at 908-307-4160.
Fire auxiliary to host
bunny at breakfast
   Sat., March 23 — Join the Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 Auxiliary as it hosts the Easter Bunny for breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, French toast, bagels, fruit, yogurt. Seatings are 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $9 (children under 2 are free) and must be reserved and paid for in advance.

   Wed., April 3 — Jewish Family Service offers a free support group to those unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change from 7-9 p.m. at the Birnbaum Jewish Community Center, 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater. The topic is “The Competitive Edge: How You Make Yourself Stand Out and Get the Job,” presented by Allan Weisberg, retired VP of Human Resources, Johnson & Johnson. Grand staff concert
plays at Auten Road
   Wed., April 3 — The Hillsborough Grand Staff Ensemble will have its spring concert on at 7 p.m. at Auten Road Intermediate School. Suggested donations at the door are $5 for adults, $2 forstudents/seniors and $10 for a family.
   The ensemble is made up of staff and friends of the school district. The concert will feature music by the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, the Four Seasons and Queen, with Wayne Kopf on percussion.

Elks welcome vets
at lunch monthly
   Thurs., April 11 — The Princeton Elks Lodge monthly veterans meeting and free lunch will be held at noon at the Princeton Elk Lodge at 345 Route 518, Skillman. All veterans are invited to attend, especially Elks who are veterans. The lodge is trying to establish a Veterans Day once a month during most months of the year. Garden club to host
hospital’s top chef
   Thur., April 25 — Neshanic Garden Club will hear Somerset Medical Center’s executive chef, Peter Pascale, at the club’s Educational Day program at Duke Farms at 11 a.m. Mr. Pascale’s Celebrate Jersey Fresh/Jersey Grown demonstration showcases three healthy recipes using local produce and fresh herbs. The program will be followed by a light buffet luncheon catered by the Duke Farms Café and is open to the public for a $20 donation. Program attendees will also be given an opportunity to learn more about what Duke Farms has to offer, including its community garden. casino night boost
   Sat., April 27 — Casino Night at the American Legion Hall, 232 Union Ave., Somerville, benefits band and guard programs at Hillsborough High School. Doors open 6 p.m., games at 7. Entry fee of $40 includes $60 in chips and food, soft drinks. Cash bar available. Must be 21 or older to attend. Live performance by Jonni Drue. Buy tickets by April 24 and get an extra $20 in chips.    —“”Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
   Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 60 Auten Road. Call 431-1300 if attending.
   Divorce support group — A non-denominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7-8:30 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. 908-295-6740.
