HILLSBOROUGH: Woodfern students meet reading challenge

Woodfern Elementary School Principal Steven Kerrigan picked a zany reproduction of a Dr. Seuss hat to wear and also “grew” some green hair in response to students making reading a priority over the last two weeks.
March 1, an assembly featuring a multimedia reading of the Dr. Seuss’ book, “The Sneetches,” kicked off two weeks during which students promised to read “each day and each night.” Friday, Mr. Kerrigan presented each homeroom with a certificate verifying their participation.
Over this same period, students had been bringing in gently used books from home. Under the guidance of reading specialist Corinne Siegel, and Pamela Pedersen, a Reach teacher, students attended the school’s first book swap.
