Vanessa Burshnic of Hillsborough spent spring break serving others as part of James Madison University’s Alternative Spring Break program. Vanessa, a junior communication sciences and disorder major, traveled to Kansas City, Mo., from March 2-9 to volunteer at Sheffield Place, a residence for homeless women and children.
Students saw the impact of poverty and homelessness through activities and interactions with residents. Students spend the week living simply, focused on service, teamwork and reflection within their group.
Rachael L. Johnston of Hillsborough, whose major is elementary/special education, earned dean’s list honors at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia for the fall semester.
Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits.
Bryan Carney, a member of the class of 2015 from Hillsborough, has been named to the fall 2012 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
Sara DiClemente of Hillsborough was among the nearly 400 members of the University of Delaware’s Class of 2012, who graduated during winter commencement ceremonies Sunday, Jan. 6, in Newark, Del.
University President Patrick Harker greeted the audience of 3,400.
Morgan Shein, a 2010 graduate of Hillsborough High School, was named to the dean’s list for both the 2012 spring and fall semesters at Rutgers University. She is a junior studying psychology and special education.
Haley Shein, a 2011 graduate of Hillsborough High School, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Monmouth University. She is sophomore studying elementary education. She was also admitted into Kappa Delta Pi education honor society.
Hillsborough residents Sabrina A. Patrizio and Lisa M. Zdan were named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the fall semester.
