New Offerings Bring Wellness to Residents

By Rick Petersen
A variety of advanced health offerings are available to residents in New Jersey and beyond that make use of aromatherapy, which has existed in various forms for over 6,000 years to help lower stress, improve mood, ease pain, reduce allergy symptoms, and boost energy among other conditions according to Livestrong.com.  It makes use of essential oils or dried herbs.  As Svetlana Kogan, M.D., founder of Doctors at Trump Place Longevity Institute and Medispa recently told Parenting magazine, "When you inhale the scent of an essential oil, it enters your bloodstream through your nasal tissues, and then moves to the brain, where it stimulates neurotransmitters that can have a calming, energizing, or even analgesic effect."  Some don’t view it as a legitimate treatment, but doctors are finding it effective, and new delivery mechanisms are improving self-care options.
Store-bought products normally use synthetic fragrances without true herbal properties.  Although oils are most often used for aromatherapy, some are sensitive to them, so dry plant material is often preferred.  Vaporization of dry material uses hot air passed through plant material to release the active ingredients without burning.  This avoids the harmful byproducts of smoke.  Ground herbs are often used but full plant leaves can also be used.  Lavender, rosemary and thyme are some of the most common.
One device available that uses vaporization is the Pax by Ploom from Vape World.  It resembles an iPod and has various features such as temperature adjustment, a battery indicator light and a "sleep mode" for when the device isn’t used.  Also being offered is the Arizer Solo which has similar features.  These high quality offerings are designed for maximum benefit along with style and functionality.
It’s not a bad idea to seek medical advice before using any new treatment or at least consult companies like Vape World for input.  You can also get more information on aromatherapy at The National Association For Holistic Aromatherapy and the Alliance of International Aromatherapy.
