The SHRHS Board of Education is thanking those who took the time to answer its culture survey, which was sent out in January. The board presented the results of this survey at a recent school board meeting. Those interested can find this presentation on the website.
”We had an overwhelming response with 216 parents and community members who took the time out of their busy schedules to respond. Your responses were greatly appreciated,” said a board spokesman.
Following is a summary of the overall results:
Total finished survey, 213 (100 percent).
— There have been changes made that positively impact your perceptions of SHRHS (answered question, 213) — Strongly agree, 23.9 percent; Agree, 56.8 percent; Disagree, 15 percent (32); Strongly disagree, 4.2 percent.
— SHRHS has increased offerings to prepare students and their parents for college acceptance; this has impacted the number of students that have been accepted and the quality of schools accepting our students (answered question, 200) — Skipped question, 13; Strongly agree, 18.5 percent; Agree, 59.5 percent; Disagree, 18 percent; Strongly disagree, 4 percent.
— Our students’ experience at SHR, including their mandatory community service, prepares students for life as productive citizens after graduation (answered question, 205) — Strongly agree, 25.4 percent; Agree, 61 percent; Disagree, 9.8 percent; Strongly disagree, 3.9 percent.
—. SHRHS has made progress in offering resources and opportunities for partnering closer with the community (answered question, 204) — Skipped question, 9; Strongly agree, 16.2 percent; Agree, 65.2 percent ; Disagree, 15.2 percent ; Strongly disagree, 3.4 percent .
”Although we feel very positive about your feedback and your assessment regarding the direction of the school, we will take seriously, the hundreds of open-ended comments and suggestions and address each one as we plan on continuing to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our school families and the community.
”We welcome continued perspectives and assessment of our progress. We thank you again for your important role in helping us to further shape future efforts,” said the school board spokesman.
