Susan Stockdale, an award winning author and illustrator of children’s books, will visit Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, Wednesday, April 3. The date will coincide with the publication of her newest book, Stripes of All Types. Mrs. Stockdale, inspired by research as well as her own life experience growing up in Florida, creates colorful, vivid picture books about animals and their habitats. She will share her experience of researching, writing and illustrating Stripes of All Types with the students during her visit. She will also emphasize how hard work and persistence can help students accomplish their dreams. In her latest book, Mrs. Stockdale brings to life a patterned parade of animals, showing young readers some of the many reasons stripes are found so often in nature. Bouncy, alliterative rhyme and simple phrases keep readers entertained, while a glossary at the back provides more in-depth information on each featured animal. This and other popular books are also available as coloring books and puzzles. The author and illustrator has won awards from American Library Association, Parents’ Choice, the National Science Teachers Association, and Bank Street College of Education.
It will be an exciting day in the library at Princeton Academy. The boys plan to wear stripes in honor of Mrs. Stockdale’s visit acknowledging her new book, Stripes of All Types. In addition, there will be a 5th grade student, Andrew Tokarski, who will be the acting Librarian for the Day. The visiting author day was sponsored by the Princeton Academy Parent Association.
