BORDENTOWN — The annual Men’s Fishing for Women Spring Pickerel Tournament is set for Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer.
Sponsored by the Sportsmen’s Center on Route 130 in Bordentown, the weighing in for prizes for the longest pickerel will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center.
Entrance fee is $10. Participants should register by Tuesday, April 12, in person at the center or by sending to check to Gary Horner, 396 New York Ave., Columbus, NJ 08022. Additional contributions may be made payable to American Cancer Society in care of above address.
Mr. Horner, whose wife is a cancer survivor, said the tournament has been operating for 20 years, benefiting the Cancer Society for the past five yeas.
Last year, 103 people participated in the event.
Prizes this year will be —based on 100 entries: first place, $350; second place, $200; third and fourth place, gift certificates from the Sportsmen’s Center. The minimum length of a fish to be measured is 22 inches.
