The Hillsborough Soccer Club, Hillsborough’s youth travel soccer program, has donated new goals for a township field on Amsterdam Road.
”As one of the longest-running youth sports organizations in town, we feel a great sense of community,” said Bonnie Herterich, president of the soccer club. “We recognized the need for new goals on the Country Classics field, which the club does sometimes use for games and practices, and felt that replacing them would be wise.”
The goals are regulation size, made of light and durable metal, and feature collapsible wheels that make it easy to move them for maintenance. The goals replace a set that had been broken for several years.
”It was a challenge to get a group of volunteers together to install the goals,” added John Ciccarelli, vice president and equipment director of the soccer club, “so we really appreciate the partnership of Parks Supervisor John Crossen and the township fields crew for doing such a terrific job in assembling the goals.”
