HILSBOROUGH: Fire marshall recognized for credential

Township Committee also honors school cross country runners

Hillsborough Chief Fire Marshal Christopher Weninger has achieved a professional honor held by no other person in New Jersey.
He has earned the title of “Fire Marshal” by the Commission on Professional Credentialing. There are only 52 people in the U.S. with the title, the township says.
Over the past three years, Chief Weniger showed the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the fire and emergency services professions, reads a proclamation adopted by the Township Committee on March 12.
Also at the meeting, the committee honored both the Hillsborough High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams. Both were county champions in the fall, and the girls were Group 4 state champions and runnerup in the Meet of Champions. The boys made it the MOC for the first time since 2003.
The committee also recognized the achievement of Eagle Scout rank by Connor Sellar, a freshman at Stevens Institute of Technology and a member of Troop 89.
His leadership project was to work with Trout Unlimited’s to raise funds to buy materials for the troop to build trout stocking boxes. The boxes were tested at the Musconetcong River, where 200 fingerlings were stocked.
