Individuals with special needs will learn how to ride a bicycle

When a child rides a bicycle without training wheels for the first time, it is one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in their young life.

This summer, Friendship Circle is partnering with iCan Shine (formerly known as Lose The Training Wheels) to make that experience a reality for children with special needs.

In one week the iCan Shine Bike program will teach children with special needs how to ride a bicycle at Audrey’s iCan Bike Camp, according to a press release.

Audrey’s iCan Bike Camp requires riders to attend one 75-minute session per day and it will take place June 24-28 at the Tab Ramos Sports Center, Aberdeen Township. iCan Shine uses adapted equipment, trained professionals and volunteers. With 75 minutes of instruction over five days, more than 80 percent of riders learn to ride a conventional bicycle independently by the end of camp, according to the press release.

The Friendship Circle is a nonprofit organization wthat helps families of children, teens and young adults with special needs.
